Entry 3
Title: If....

If I were given a chance to choose and live in one of lost cities, it would be  Machu Picchu.  The reason is it beautiful place to live in. people would not agree with the choice I made.  I love to live in a green and more natural place. It is hard to believe it because all my live I grew up in the city. Living in a peaceful environment must be nice like Machu Picchu. It is a city that is located high in the Andes Mountains in Peru. It might be a little too cold but it is peaceful, considering that the people who lived there are religious. It lies 43 miles northwest of Cuzco at the top of a ridge. It was built between 1460 and 1470 AD by Pachuacuti Inca Yupanqui. It has an altitude of 8000 feet. It is compromised 200 buildings and about 1200 people lived in and around Machu Picchu. Many of them were women, children and priests. The people there planted corps, such as potatoes and maize. To get the highest yield possible, they used advanced terracing and irrigation methods to reduce erosion and increase the area available for cultivation. However, it probably did not produce a large enough surplus to export agricultural products to Cuzco, the Incan capital. In 1527, fifty present of the population were infected and killed by smallpox. The government started to collapse and Machu Picchu fell into civil war. Then Machu Picchu was already forgotten in 1532. It was rediscovered by Professor Hiram Bingham in 1911. He was searching for the undiscovered last stronghold of the Incan empire and stumbled upon Machu Picchu. It is completely not forgotten because few people still live there.
